Young woman found dead on apartment sidewalk near UA campus

An investigation is underway after a young woman was found dead outside an apartment building near the University of Alabama campus on Friday, July 28, 2017.

A young woman was found dead outside a Tuscaloosa apartment building near campus Friday morning.

Authorities responded to The Lofts at City Center at 1345 10th Ave East about 7 a.m., said Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Capt. Kip Hart. The complex is popular for student housing.

The young woman was found dead on the sidewalk. Detectives and evidence technicians are on the scene, which is described as a death investigation. Her name, age and cause of death has not been released. There were no obvious signs of foul play.
